International and African leaders are gathered across private and public spheres to discuss how green growth models and public-private collaboration can unlock the potential for improved livelihoods and sustainable lifestyles in the African region at the 3GF-Africa Regional Conference co-hosted by the Governments of Kenya and Denmark and the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP).

A Letter of Intent was on May 13 signed between the Kenya Commercial Bank, Bidco Africa Ltd., Government of Ethiopia, and Government of Kenya vowing to incorporate and pursue the green growth agenda.

The world is facing a rapid change with increasing urbanisation rates, and an estimated growth of the global middle class by three billion people with still increasing demands and aspirations. To foster economic growth and improved livelihoods in a sustainable way new approaches and thinking is needed. The conference will focus on new financing models, opportunities for developing sustainable lifestyles and generating prospects for sustainable urbanisation. Furthermore particular priority will be given to the critical issues of ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply and achieving sustainable industrialisation through circular economy approaches and tunnelling of modern technology. 3GF brings a number of global collaborative public-private partnerships to the African continent. Partnerships within water, energy, waste management, circular economy and restoration to engage national, regional and international actors in action oriented and concrete solutions for implementation of green growth.

Other featured participants include Ministers from a number of African countries, CEO’s of regional and international corporations, directors of international organizations, researchers and many more. See more information on speakers and  the programme at the 3GF website.
