The 23rd edition of the EU Film Festival will this year run from 13th of May to 1st of June 2014 at the Alliance Francaise, Loita Street, Nairobi. 20 critically acclaimed films from 14 European countries and two films from the ACP-EU support programme for the ACP cultural sector are represented thus giving the public an insight into the diversity of European cultures.

European cinema is more than just entertainment. It not only tends to focus on craftsmanship in making films, but also preserves distinguishing features and historical depth while reflecting a multi-cultural 21st century Europe.

The European Film Festival is the only annual international cinematographic event that takes place in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret .

Denmark will be represented in Nairobi and Mombasa by the following two films - ‘The Hunt’ and ‘A Hijacking’. Click here for more info on the programme and the two Danish films.

In addition Cinema Café will be organised once weekly during the festival at the Alliance Francaise terrace to engage audiences and critics in discussions on subjects related to the films.

The Festival remains a very popular event on the cultural agenda of Nairobians and the film festival will again this year be extended to Korogocho, Mathare and Cinemart Baba Dogo for community screenings.

Furthermore the Festival grows in popularity in Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret. Distinct, diverse and refreshing content from the European continent is a much welcome and affordable treat for Kenyan audiences. In Mombasa and Kisumu the Festival takes place at the Alliance Française institutions and in Eldoret it is organized at the Municipal Hall.
