This year, Denmark celebrates the 180 year anniversary of diplomatic relations to the Kingdom of Belgium. Following the Belgian independence in 1830, Belgian embassies opened around the world and in 1837, Baron van der Straten Ponthoz was appointed The Kingdom of Belgium’s Chargé d’Affaires in Copenhagen. Later that year, Chamberlain Edzard Vilhelm Coopmans was sent to Brussels as the Kingdom of Denmark’s Chargé d’Affaires. Up to this day, Belgium and Denmark still have strong bilateral diplomatic relations which will only be enhanced by the upcoming State visit by the Belgian Royal Couple to Denmark. It is with great pleasure that the Belgian delegation is greeted in Copenhagen March 28-30th.
