Launch of Cultural Programme

The roster of partners is comprised of some of Kenya′s most progressive and innovative cultural organisations who are focused on activities that further accelerate economic growth of the creative sector as well as improve access to cultural activities.

The invited guests were entertained by energetic dance performances from the Sarakasi Trust Dancers and spoken word performances from Fatumas Voice.  The Nest/HEVA hosted a fashion exhibition with displays from their roster of investees who include designers such as Katungulu Mwendwa, Ogake Mosomi and Kawira Mirero of Mambo Pambo. As well as Docubox the documentary filmmakers who showcased a show reel of the various screening activities they have undertaken in different counties all over Kenya.

The Culture Program, which ends in October 2017, was previously hosted by The Danish Centre for Culture and Development (CKU) and was scheduled to run from 2014 – 2017 with an overall budget of DKK 7,400,000. The development objective of the program was to facilitate the improved participation of youth in art and cultural activities and increased focus on cultural and creative industries contribution to the socio-economic development of Kenya. Following the closure of CKU, the Embassy chose to continue with the program activities as part of its ongoing commitment to broadening its engagement in Kenya and supplementing traditional development cooperation.
