High Level Partnership Forum in Istanbul

26.02.2016  11:54
On 23-24 February the third High Level Partnership Forum (HLPF) was held in Istanbul with participation from over 45 countries and a multitude of international organisations. The meeting was a sequel to the Copenhagen meeting in 2014
The focus of the meeting was on progress in Somalia with emphasis on the forthcoming presidential election and the deteriorating security sector. The gathering also gave occasion to review results from Somalia’s Compact, and formulate the country’s new three year Development Plan.

The Danish State Secretary, Martin Bille Hermann, presented Denmark’s input of continued emphasis on, and support to, Somalia’s political and economic development. The importance of an inclusive election process was accentuated, and the way toward the coming election in 2020 commenced. Durable solutions to humanitarian crisis, the overlap between development and humanitarian assistance, and the Solutions Alliance initiative were all also highlighted.

In connection to the meeting Denmark co-hosted a side event that emphasised the importance of inclusion of women in peace and stabilisation interventions.
