Ambassador Stephan Schønemann

On the 1st of September, 2023, Ambassador Stephan Schønemann presented the Letter of Credence to the President of Kenya, His Excellency William Ruto, whereby Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II nominates him as Ambassador of Denmark to Kenya.

Until his appointment to Kenya, Ambassador Schønemann was Under-Secretary for Development Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen. Prior to that, he was the Ambassador of Denmark to Benin from 2010-2012 and to Ethiopia from 2012-2015. After his ambassadorial appointments, Ambassador Stephan Schønemann served as Director for Humanitarian Action, Civil Society and Engagement.

Stephan’s career in the foreign service started off in 1994 and in 1995 he was an intern at the Royal Danish Embassy of Denmark in Washington.
